We All Have To Start Somewhere: ‘Try Before You Buy’ with our Introduction To Running Group

Introduction to Running

Over the last 8 years, a FREE beginner level running group in Newquay has been helping local residents…

Feel fitter and healthier
Enjoy feeling more positive
Lose Weight

In a recent survey the vast majority of those that attend reported that they’d enjoyed at least two of the above benefits.

One member who gave running a try after suffering a bereavement has lost 3 stone. She has also competed in the 2018 Truro Race for Life and achieved a top 10 finish from over 1500 runners!

What is Introduction to Running?

The sessions are FREE and run by Newquay Road Runners’ qualified coaches and club coaches, leaving the Newquay Sports Centre at 6:30 pm on Tuesday nights. The group started in January 2014 with 25 local residents attending the first session. Since then over 500 people have attended at least one session and over 40 have progressed on to competing in races for of Newquay Road Runners.

Who is this for?

There’s a widespread number of members, with a few more women than men. There’s also a wide age range all the way from 16 to 70+, with 40 being the average age. Abilities vary from those that have never run before to those that are progressing up towards club level.
