MEN’S CAPTAIN LEADS BY EXAMPLE

The Tywardreath Trotter was the 1st race of the 2018/19 Cornwall Multi Terrain GP and took place last Saturday evening starting at The New Inn, Tywardreath. There were 301 finishers of which 10 were representing Newquay Road Runners.

The course is a challenging one of which 50% is off-road and is a distance of approximately 7 miles. The race was won in an excellent time of 39 minutes 21 seconds by Charlie Brisley running for Invicta East Kent. Men’s Captain Steve Rendle led the Newquay contingent home and was 43rd overall in a time of 50.18.

The ladies race was won Launceston RR Jeanette Johnson whose 47.59 placed her 25th overall. Leading the Newquay ladies home was Eleanor Dixon her time of 55.36 which placed her 95th overall. Eleanor was pleased with her run and held a little back as her main goal is the Indian Queens ½ marathon, this being her first over the 13.1 mile distance, being held on Sunday (5th August).
