Many thanks to Mele for the following report on the Godrevy 10+K:

Wednesday 9th May 7 pm saw 10 Newquay RR running the first of this year’s‘Freedom Racing’ Summer Sessions at Godrevy an all off-road event!

Unfortunately not such a summers evening, quite the opposite in fact with wind, rain and very cool temperatures but happy to say ending with the rain stopping towards the end of the race and a beautiful sunset.

It was approximately a 10k Trail Running Race from near Godrevy Beach car park, heading along the coast path to the dunes before dropping onto the Beach.

Running along Gwithian Sands to cross the Red River and along the Beach to Godrevy Cove.

The route follows the coast path around the iconic Godrevy Lighthouse headland towards the North Cliffs, to do a small loop on the Knavocks Headland and return to the beach at Godrevy Cove to run back to the Red River, following it upstream to cross the bridge and finish by the Beach Cafe for a long-awaited and richly deserved refreshing drink.

Leading the Newquay contingent home was Megan Davis whose 49.21 placed her 2nd lady and 34th overall out of the 296 who crossed the finish line, Megan led Dad Martin at the finish who was the club’s first male runner not too far behind (he got his own back in the Trevornick 10K 4 days later) in 50.01 placing him 39th.
NRR times:
Megan Davis 49.21
Martin Davis 50.01
Emma Savage 54:55
Lee Carter 54.12
Sara Robins 57:38
Ella Cattermoul Williams 58:03
